Yeah so to restart file explorer I was using task managing director, non otherwise sure how one restarts file explorer.
I did also already do a full restart and the problem appears to take cleared itself.
I accept its windows since yous have pointed at windows services as culprit. The laptop had been running for a week so it appears the ye olde instability problems with microsoft windoze yep.
I will go along the other trick up my sleeve thanks if the problem comes back.
Note the other quirk was the start menu would open but clicking on icons did not first software and the hover text hints, when you scrolled over the get-go menu, did not show.

I notice that ctrl-alt-delete and selecting task managing director restarts seems to articulate the problem. Though I should not take to go through that.
I accept institute information technology happens quite often and on both my dwelling laptop and work laptop. Then, the two laptops with completely different versions of windows doing it. The only mutual thread is I bandy my bluetooth dongle from my yes you guessed information technology microsoft ergo keyboard that I swap between the two laptops. Though, it is not in the swapping itself, since the problem re-occurs while dongle is left in auto.
I detect that the the task bar is oft dead and nonreactive and applications exercise not react to left or correct mouse button clicks. When this happens, I have oft found outcome with task manger running, the mouse clicks practice not piece of work. I observe with file manager in job manager, if I select file manager and hitting restart it all comes good.
Can't fathom and then why both my laptops are doing it, unless its also considering I am swapping a HDMI cable betwixt the ii. On my piece of work laptop in that location are a raft of bug where the displays kickoff resetting, which appears to be the driver, just also manifests with non-reactive mouse clicks. The habitation laptop does not do the flashing display resetting but you could almost say the mouse behaviour and the need to use task manager or restart file director is the aforementioned on both laptops.

I have the exact same trouble on 2 dissever machines.
Both desktops with Nvidia gpu'south running latest windows 10, i machine is a Haswell i7, the other is a Ryzen 3600x.
The only real mutual thing between them is I remote from ane to the other. The only common programs are solidworks and firefox. Remote software is Splashtop Business.
Information technology too causes firefox to continually open new windows for any links opened, and if you close them all and try and reopen, firefox attempts to restart in safe manner.
To remedy, I ctrl-shift-esc and restart windows explorer.
The trouble followed the intel machine to the new windows 2004 update as well.

I take the exact same problem on two carve up machines.
Both desktops with Nvidia gpu'southward running latest windows x, ane machine is a Haswell i7, the other is a Ryzen 3600x.
The only real common thing between them is I remote from one to the other. The just common programs are solidworks and firefox. Remote software is Splashtop Business.
It as well causes firefox to continually open up new windows for any links opened, and if you close them all and endeavor and reopen, firefox attempts to restart in safe fashion.
To remedy, I ctrl-shift-esc and restart windows explorer.
The problem followed the intel automobile to the new windows 2004 update equally well.
Mike_vas, yeah weird eh?
The quirk is when I burn up the task manager via CTL-ALT DEL the mouse hover over Chore Manager lights upward. So, there i plain different lawmaking working that mouse activity. Makes sense, since it would be protective coding if there were bug with HMI.
The fact that running the task manager seems to clear it probably means the restart of file director is merely a furphy now I think about it. What practice you think? Since you accept to CTL-ALT DEL to get to task manager to restart the windoze explorer. Or are you restarting windoze explorer some other way? Maybe endeavour just CTL-ALT DEL and start Chore Manger next time you lot see the trouble to see if that is enough to clear the trouble for yous?
I take and old USB mouse and keyboard. And so I might try those for a time to meet if the problem however happens. That might help with pointing at display drivers five bluetooth. Thought, since the dongle is on my USB port, I can't come across how to discount the USB per se.
Yes I could but use the laptop keyboard but I hate it and that dopey scratch pad thing.
I only use those on the loose occasion that I apply the laptop literally on my lap. I otherwise prefer it on my laptop stand on my desk. Listen y'all, if I detect it happening with the USB keyboard and mouse I might need try the laptop keyboard and scratch pad to see if the trouble persists at that place too.
Are you lot using wireless keyboard and mouse and what make?
